With deep sadness, we share that Johan Cardoen, Chairman of remynd’s Board and a cornerstone of the Belgian biotech community, has passed away.

Johan was a builder. From his early leadership in plant biotechnology to his tenure as Managing Director of VIB and his many board roles, he helped shape a thriving ecosystem that connects science, entrepreneurship, and patient impact. He combined strategic clarity with generosity and had a rare talent for bringing people together to make ideas real.

Johan joined remynd as Chairman in 2024. In a short time, he profoundly influenced our direction.
